Hope by Langston Hughes

So much for my inspiration and resolve to keep up with the PotD. On Friday and Saturday, it seemed like I only came home to sleep, due to various family activities. It was a no brainer to come up with a poem to post today, though. I’m listening to Richard Russo’s Bridge of Sighs audiobook and this poem was used in a high school English class.

Hope
By Langston Hughes

He rose up on his dying bed
and asked for fish.
His wife looked it up in her dream book
and played it.
